What about me?
Wednesday, January 24, 2007 9:38 PM
It's been a while, I know. I've been quite busy with work, and some other stuff lately and I find it hard to keep track of all the blogs I've got.
Speaking of which, I created another blog, this time focusing on Video Games. I was influenced with gaming as a kid and I kind of grew-up playing video games as a hobby. I used to collect magazines on video games, and I kept imagining what it would be like writing things on a magazine for video games.
Well with the popularity of blogging, I can now write my own stuff, plus the fact that there are services that lets me upload videos now, it's definitely a plus.

Another issue I must post here, before Jasper does (hehehehe)
Windows Vista will be launched on February 3 at the SM Mall of Asia. Expect to see lots of exciting stuff there like promos, prizes, bands, etc. Be sure to wear either a blue or a green shirt! :D

I've been what? Tagged!?
Monday, January 08, 2007 7:48 PM
The enevitable has happened and I got tagged here (after X days of being out of contact) After getting my Zune, having my old Friendster account getting hacked by some noob, I realized that New Year has already arrived. Anyways, I need to blog some 5 things people don't know about me.
1.) I used to be a center-forward in soccer when I was a kid.
2.) I am a choir singer in our Church every Sunday
3.) I killed a lab mice in High School by throwing it 3 floors from our classroom. (The rage I had those days)
4.) I had to endure four years of pain for my torn knee ligament (only until the 4th year we learned its real condition, I was in 2nd year College then)
5.) Uh.. this is for the cake, Punzki and I accidentally had a lips-to-lips moment during one of our org's contests! (I can die now... XP)
So here we go my tag list would be: Punzki, Lihan, Porny, Jin, and Esmee
Christmas wishlist
Tuesday, November 21, 2006 9:42 PM
Well, I'm starting one of my own. And I posted it in my other blog.
It's inevitable that I'll post my Christmas wishlist in my blog. Lately, many cool stuff came out in the market, lots of nice offers from memberships to boot. And here I am making a wishlist I'd like to have this Christmas
1.) Gym Membership near my house. I'd want to get some formal gym training this time around, instead of the informal one I get from the office.
2.) Microsoft Zune, heck it's not the end all solution to the IPod. But who knows? It might just get there.
3.) PS2, yep, I'm going retro this time, no PS3s for me. I like the games on PS2 much better.
4.) Nintendo Wii, nuff what the reviewers say. It's hip, it's stylish, and it requires you to move too!
5.) New TV rack and bookshelves, for my growing collection of books and FHM
6.) My destined one?
Wii!!!
Wednesday, November 15, 2006 11:42 PM
Wii, the Nintendo Operr... I mean Gaming Console will be out by this weekend in Japan. I can't wait for word for its launch. Strange, I seem to lose interest for the Sony Playstation 3 (Oh, I'll be getting a new PS2 Slim probably for my birthday... I miss playing games on it (thanks to school hehehe)), but I have great interest on the Wii, second to the X360. I dunno maybe it's the cool nunchuck controller that uses a motion sensor mostly to have it work. Plus its dimunitive size, only just about as thick as 3 DVD cases stacked on top of each other. (Cool, this will fit perfectly in my car) http://wii.yahoo.com/
Hmm, it seems I only post every payday here... strange.
ZOMG another SALE!!
Sunday, October 29, 2006 9:33 PM
Yep, this weekend, I reactivated my MS Junior status and helped out in the Microsoft Booth at COMDDAP (Computer Manufacturers, Distributors and Dealers Association of the Philippines) Expo at Ft. Bonifacio during the weekend.
Due to the worst thyphoon to hit the city during the early days of October cancelled the event because the tent we were using got destroyed as it was in the process of being built. So the event itself was moved to this weekend instead. The event covered mostly the computer hardware sector, with major brands and their distributors and dealers showing off the new stuff, and selling their old ( AND NEW) stuff for big discounts! Talk about having a Linksys Pre-N Router sold at Php 10,000.00 being sold for only Php 7,000.00? Or even a Linksys Wi-Fi adapter for only 50% off its original price!?! Though the main highlight of the event focused on the public viewing of Windows Vista and 2007 Office System. I volunteered to help out during the weekend, since I already had field experience in talking about Windows Vista features and (little) background on the new Office system.
Aside from the work, this afternoon, I got my cash and decided to buy my sisters' computer a brand new DVD Writer for them to use, since the 3-4 CDRW is starting to conk out (due to it's used nature, after burning around 1000 CDs for our use). And if I had extra, buy a new computer casing for them, since the 2 year old casing, was too dirty, limited cross ventilation, and was too heavy to be of any use. I got a good deal out of the DVD Writer (ASUS branded) and was bought for Php 2.5k (usually sold at 3k or up, since it's an ASUS product) and the casing was just bought for Php 1.75k (after my dad "lent" me money to buy the casing. I think it was my dad's nature to buy when he hears the word DISCOUNT or SALE). And then later, I happened to chance by the Nokia Care booth that was offering a free 5 point checkup on ANY Nokia Phone and my curiosity got to me and inquired about it. I learned that if I paid for a systems upgrade (re-flashing of my phone's ROM), I also get a FREE casing replacement.
Thinking of this deal.... it was sooo sweet. at Php 500.00 I get to have my phone's OS fixed (which was bugging me while I was in school and was the cause of much miscommunication back then) and I get to have my beaten up front face panel and rear panel replaced with a new part as well as the rubber side cover (which I replaced last Christmas with a fake one, because the original piece fell off my unit) Now my phone looks like brand new!!!
Though the problem was, I used my saved money. My salary hasn't come out yet until the end of this month. T_T
work life balance
Tuesday, October 24, 2006 11:26 PM
Wow, it's going to be almost 2 weeks since I last posted here.
Here's an example this time around on what students looking for a job can choose as a profession, should the choose it though :P (and it was once one of my aspirations)

And of course here's another tip in life:
Don't belittle your assigned task (from your boss), if you look outside of the box, it will be like the image of a pebble thrown in a pond, and the ripple it creates will affect the entire pond.
A quick lesson in life
Sunday, October 15, 2006 4:16 PM
1.) Don't bite the hand that feeds you
2.) Always remember to slash off a fraction of your earnings to savings once you receive your paycheck AT ONCE
3.) Be happy with your work, there's lots of things to discover from it
4.) Big Sales (70% off) are your friends, more bang for your buck... errr Peso.
Ich jetzt Art von, spreche Deutsches!
Wednesday, October 04, 2006 10:52 PM
Due to the shift in work, where I have been sent to a project now, I now face the task of understanding the German (Deutsche) Language. It's cool to encounter something new at work. I get to learn more about the language since the project I'm in right now has its interface.... all in German. And to help me out in the process, I got some help from our resident project translator Andrei and of course, Babel Fish and Google Translate.
I find it somewhat easier to understand the flow of German than that of Japanese. Well aside from the fact that German language has the same alphabet we English speakers use (except for a few notable vowel additions) some of the German words I encountered were quite familiar. Take management for example, it's a German word, same goes to Tunnel. And some like steel have the "sounds like" word in German, which is stahl. And description in German is beschreibung, a bit close to the English.
Wow. Gotta love this job! Guten tag jeder!

Just this afternoon, I along with Mr. Jay Paloma, were guest speakers in Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) (also Jasper's College :P) on the technology surrounding creating music through our computers along with the use of Windows Movie Maker as a way to create videos (both for our own or something else.... youtube anyone?). Sir Jay talked about the use of an Audio Mixing Software for creating music more like being able to build a small "studio" at home. And I talked about the use of Windows Movie Maker as an alternative way from using the more expensive studio or using expensive software like Premiere.
Our talks revolved more on how we became involved with the topics for the day. Sir Jay was a genuine music lover, and I was very interested (and had some video-making/filming experience) on the why's and how's in making movies come to life since I was a kid. And building through our backgrounds, we presented our topics to our audience, a mix of IT and Computer Engineering Students.
And the nice thing was that Sir Jay was able to notice the link between the two mediums: audio and video. And most of the things we talked about revolved around making music videos COOL!

Right now I prefer to lie low at the office than taking on some of the admin tasks, it somewhat hampers my additional knowledge gathering on some very interesting topics, not explicitly discussed at school. It seems that I've been able to reverse the stuff being taught to me by my favorite book. But time will tell when I show my cards and step-up. Right now's not the time for me. Not yet.
