In about an hour I drive to the airport for a trip out to California. Microsoft is hosting an
Academic Days event for university faculty members and I'm going to help out. I'm pretty excited about it for a number of reasons. One reason is that the event itself looks to be great. Another is that I'm going to see some friends while I am in California. A good friend for many years lives near there and I am going to visit her and her husband tonight. I've never been to their house before. We know each other from conferences and meetings that always took place far from our homes.
On Sunday night I am visiting with my cousin and his family. He's been my best friend since we we children. We're only a few months a part in age and can not remember a time when we were not friends.
I'm feeling quite a bit better today so that is good. Also good is that I was able to score upgrades to first class for both flights on the trip out. So I'll have big comfortable seats and a tiny bit of pampering. That should be helpful.
One last note. I understand that today is Bill Gates birthday. He's 49 today. I wonder if he takes the day off?
