Tomorrow is a mother/son day

My wife and son, who both work in schools, have a holiday tomorrow. I, alas, have to work. So mother and son are off to have a relaxing day away together. I wish I could go along but at least they will have a good time and burn off some stress. (I hope.)
I think we're pretty lucky in that we have always had a good relationship with our son. I know some parents and children who are not on good terms and it is really pretty sad. I think sometimes it starts during the rebelious teen years. Once kids grow up they grow out of a lot of the things that caused the friction in the first place. Some people can get past that and some just can't seem to do it. So if you are in your 20s or older and not getting along with your parents think about giving them anohter chance. Maybe they've grown up as well.

My parents and I did not have a great relationship growing up, though I had to split time with 6 other siblings so that made it difficult in the first place. However since college and now having graduated a month ago I have worked at my relationship with my parents and my siblings as well. It's a shame that more kids don't do the same when they get to that mature age. You are only here for so long and should appreciate the people around you especially your family.
