What a couple of days
I've been down in Florida for the past couple of days to visit my father. First I was sick. Then my Dad got sick. I spent much of yesterday taking him to doctors and an x-ray place. We thought he might have to go to the hospital but that turned out not to be needed. Still he could be better. He's got some strong meds and I think they are helping. But I wish I could stay longer. My sister came over today. She lives in The Bahamas and I don't get to see her often enough. So she helped me with my Dad and will be here until Sunday. I feel better about that. And of course it was greatto see her again.
We also helped my Dad with some things for his new condo. We bought a computer desk and a chair for him. It took me forever to put the desk together. But it's done and the computer is moved and set up. I'm using his computer because he doesn't have a network here. Maybe next trip I will set one up for him. :-) Doing "computer stuff" is one of the big reasons I came down. His computers are in a lot better sshape now. Plus I brought his data down from his year round house. He had disk problems on his laptop and lost it there. Thank goodness for backups. Now he has his data on his computers in New York and Florida and on his laptop. I showed him how to burn a CD so that he can bring it back to New York in the spring. Lots to do.
And of course I have been fitting in my own work. Phone calls, email and other work can be done anywhere I have a signel for my cell phone and an internet connection.
I'm not as rested as I would like though. On Sunday I fly to Seattle for a world wide meeting of Microsoft employees who work with universities. A couple of people who blog here are on the list to be there. I can't wait to meet them in person. And also see again some wonderful people I know from Redmond. Should be good!
