I had a really nice blog entry all written and the airport wi-fi did something and I lost it. Frustrating. This one is being written in Word first. (Happened again – glad I did it in Word.)
I don’t usually buy airport wi-fi because when I fly I am usually on my way to some place with a good internet connection. But today I am waiting at the Salt Lake City airport on my way on vacation. In about a half hour my son arrives (he is traveling here from home and I am coming from a conference). In an hour our flight takes up to Reno from where we will drive to Lake Tahoe for our annual snowboarding vacation. I suspect that the only connection I will have for the next week is dial-up.
In some ways I am really ready for vacation. I haven’t had a real vacation since August and the last two months have been especially busy. So I’m kind of tired. On the other hand, my wife is home with her mother in the hospital still. And there are some work related things that I would really like to be taking care of.
Hand this vacation not been long scheduled and mostly all paid for I might have backed out. My son offered to back out and stay home with my wife but she told him to go. If I need a vacation he should be required to take one. He works unbelievably hard with a large work load of special education students. Making sure he takes this vacation by itself should make me feel less guilty about taking vacation.
I think when he gets here I will feel better about vacation. I know that once we get settled in to the place we are renting for the week I will feel better about it. I am hoping that a week of snowboarding will clear our heads and give us both some mental relaxation. Physically I think we’ll be tired though. Hey, you can’t have it all. J
BTW have you set up one of the special theSpoke avatars yet? The 28th is the day they count them to determine how much money is donated to tsunami relief.
