Normally the middle of July and the beginning of August are slow for me and the people in my group. This doesn't seem to be a normal time though. We had a new person join the group to help out with the universities in New England. Philip is a great guy with a ton of experience. I have been spending some time with him to fill him in on the relationships with universities as they are today. Plus he cam with me on a presentation I made yesterday at one of the great universities that seem almost common place in this part of the world. I am looking forward to working with him as we move through the year.
And I've had trouble with one of my laptops (a one inch blank line running from the top to the bottom of the monitor. I've made two trips to make sure that gets taken care of before my trip. Trip? Yes, Sunday I leave for a week in Seattle. That of course has meant that a lot of things around the house had to be taken care of this week. No waiting for a week-end when half of the week-end is a travel day.
And if that were not enough, my manager and I have been working on the plan for how I am going to spend the next year. It looks great so far.
At times like this I remember one thing. I have been over-worked and I have been out of work. Over-worked is better. Especially when you like your work.
