Today was a long day. I got up at 4AM on the east coast and was on the west coast (Seattle) and three time zones away by about 1PM Pacific time or 4PM Eastern time. I was lucky enough to get upgraded to first class and usually that will get me to pull out the laptop and work. But not today. Somehow I couldn't get myself to do it. So I read a little and I slept a little. Well maybe I slept more than a little.
Once I got to Seattle I stopped at a store and bought some new pants. Somehow the waists of all of my pants have been shrinking in the closet. Plus two of the pairs that really fit have developed other problems. After buying the pants and checking into the hotel there was still plenty of good work time that I could have gotten in. But again - I didn't. Don't tell anyone but I found myself a casino with a poker room. Washington has a lot of poker rooms. For the fun of it on each visit out here if no one invites me to anything interesting I try to find a new casino (new to me) and play for a little while. I have a hard limit on what I am willing to lose and I try to keep one chip for a souvenir. I played for 2 hours and left up very close to $40. So I made $20/hour which is not a bad rate of pay. Plus I had fun which is after all the main goal.
Now I am back in my hotel room and my body thinks its midnight. The clock says other wise and if I go to sleep now I will wake up much too early be be useless by the end of the local work day. So I could work. Or I could write more complex and technical blogs. Or I could watch TV. I promise I will work tomorrow. Today (Sunday) is still, in theory, a day off.
