There are these days when technology seems overwhelming. There is too much new stuff to learn. There is too much email coming in. There is just too much information on the Internet. There is just plain too much technology. It makes me tired just to think about it.

Some days I want to give the laptops back, turn off the cell phone and find a line of work that lets me ignore what is going on in technology. And then I realize that is probably not possible. I was reading today about someone who owns a large apple orchard. They’ve got a web site. I’ll bet that not only do they use technology everywhere they have a lot of new developments in their own field (no pun intended) to keep up with.

There really aren’t many areas where one doesn’t have to be a lifelong learner these days. So unless you are independently well-off and more or less retired you’d better be ready to keep learning. Sigh. Anyone want to give me a couple of million US dollars so that I can retire now? I thought not.
