I from time to time refer to winter as the world in black and white. That is because at this time of year when snow covers the ground that is how the world appears. Or for sure there are shades of brown in the trees and the evergreens bring some of that great color into the picture but for the most part the contrasts are there. The shadows are sharp and dark. The sun reflecting off the bright white snow blinds the eye to other colors. Today during an early morning hike through the woods I took a couple of pictures to share with you.

Here you can see the sharp shadows. It is actually quite bright out but because I was shooting into the sun this looks a lot darker than it actually was. Even the camera (atmittidly only a cell phone camara) is blinded to colors other than black and white.

In the center of the shot below and to the right of a rock is a rabbit hole. There are tracks all around showing a lot of in and out activity. This is one of about four different rabbit holes we saw on this particular walk. The rabbits are really ready for spring and are hunting everywhere for food. Lots of seeds have already fallen from some of the trees to they are not hunting completely in vane but I imagine they will be more happy once the snow melts and they can find more food.
