Note to EMI and all other record labels engaging in copy control cd. I am making it a personal effort not to buy any new releases from EMI because of the implementation of copy control.
Yes, I buy original cds all the time. I buy about 2 cds a month. It may not mean much to your A&R people, but I am making a personal stand here.
Why should I be force to install some new files on my laptop just to listen to an original copy control cd which I bought (the licence)?
Last year, there were occasions when the discs irked music buffs, served to turn people off EMI products for life, prevented radio stations from giving artists play-time, raised questions about whether they are fish or fowl, resulted in EMI pulling its copy-control forum off the web, and at least in one case had exactly the opposite effect it was intended to have.
