An update on a Fri afternoon
Haven't blogged for awhile but Im still reading everyone's blog with SharpReader.
Thesis progress has halted becos of teaching, coursework studying, other uni admin responsiblities and the training stint in Queensland. And now, my supervisor is not too happy with my progress.
I want to say this for the first and last time, yes. Bernard Anthony Jude Oh Wai Nam is tired. I want to say out this fear and move on (need to get it out of my system). I am scared I will "choke" at this crucial last quarter. But I will shoulder on and forge ahead ... insha-allah ... if God is willing.
During this weeks, I have gone to speak to a priest about ... nah .. not priesthood lah. I had a spirtual director back in SG whom I can talk about everything (actually most of the time hardly about religion stuff) .. guess I kinda needed that kinda support. Got his (melbourne priest) contact .. but its almost 1 week liao but I have not followed with the contact. Time not permitting lah.
I have an observation to make, I need to exercise otherwise I will feel lousy, grumpy and sick, but finding time to exercise is a challenge. A classic catch 22 situation. Which one comes first? The chicken or the egg?
Going to play John Digweed's MMII in the gym this evening.
Vince, a good mate applied for an admin job but was told he was too qualified. Isn't it better for the company to have someone who is very qualified to do the job? Vince is a simple humble guy. He likes the job, so on what grounds should he be discriminated because he is very qualified for a job? It's his interest to apply for this job. Isn't interest in a job is what that matters?
I refused to accept that fact that if I do a IT degree, I must apply for an IT job. During the course of achieving my IT degree, I have picked up a lot of skills such as team management, client relationship management as well problem solving attitude to situations .... its not just 101010 110000111 or Ethernet network ... My university education prepares me to learn new things at a conceptual level and understand them with the basics I picked up during the undergraduate phrase.
If God is willing, I get a H1 honours degree, are my options really reduced? Doesn't it defeats the purpose of a higher degree in the first place? I thought an education is suppose to open doors for you and not CLOSE it.
Back to information retrieval notes ... unit test next week.
