Tak Giu

This morning I was flipping through the papers when I saw a writeup about a Singaporean undergrad's pet peeve turned into an indie short film.

(From the web site) "Tak Giu" is an indie film (in Windows Media Video format) which follows the journey of 3 soccer-crazy boys. Having taking up the challenge of a friendly soccer match, the boys realize that it is not easy to find a good, free public soccer field in Singapore… if there’s any at all. Through their journey they encounter obnoxious care-takers, locked-up fences, deterring weather and a persistent policeman. Will they be able to find their dream soccer pitch?

PS: The film is in Singlish-Chinese (another variation of the languages spoken in Singapore). International viewers, not to fret, it comes with English subtitles.

Check out Tak Giu - a slice of Singapore life and the local soccer culture ...

Now ... back to www.afl.com.au for my other football results.

Finding grass (or even durt) to play on is hard in many great cities. I knew one grass park near where I grew up (people used to play cricket there as well as American footbal) but most of the parks were paved over. Plus we often had to climb 4 meter high fences to get in.
