I Ran A Half Marathon Today!

My-Half-Marathon-Finisher-Medal

This morning I have ran another successful half marathon in a time of 2 hours and 21mins (estimate). This run was special because I was running under Team Monash. I am very proud to be able to run under my alma mater colours.

Another reason why I am particularly proud of today's achievement was because I have proved to myself that I can do anything I put my heart into. The last time I ran a half marathon was 2001, when I was running with my army unit. This time round, I basically ran the race on my own and didn't receive any prior training.

There were times when I really felt that I have hit the wall but I still persisted thanks to a very encouraging quote from a very good friend that constantly persisted in my mind. I dedicated today's race to my very good friend's encouraging quote. "... don't forget to breathe! ... ". I could not have done this distance without your quote!

I have posted more marathon pictures on my gallery - Singapore Marathon 2005

I once join a long distance running event, it was only 5 kms. actually I ran half way then I got tired so i walked to the finish line hehehe. I couldn't ran all the way let alone what you've did, 21.1 kms.

You sure do have a lot of stamina.

Thank you each and everyone for your kind words and comments. To run such an event requires some preparation efforts such as having the right diet (that's why I need to carbo loaded on Saturday night - http://thespoke.net/blogs/bernard/archive/2005/12/03/922440.aspx), some training, the right equipments (a good pair of shoes) but most important of all - the right mindset.

Running especially in such event is all about discipline and mental control. That is why I dedicate this "victory" to my friend's inspiring quote.
