Consumer Culture in Higher Education

The general theme for this week's The Australian Higher Education (HE) is on the increasing trend of user-pay model towards HE as the Govt reduces its contribution to cost of a tertiary education.

What would be the impact of a customer centric attitude towards HE entail? Higher quality in education? A better university student experience? "Customer" is always right? "Customer" satisfaction is #1? Easy and fun curriculum? Lower scholastic quality?

This is very contentious issue, what are your thoughts?
