It's a small world.....

Yesterday I was on my way to the Developing Software for the Future Microsoft platform ISV event in central London at which Bill Gates was due to deliver the closing keynote speech. On arriving at the event at some unearthly hour I was standing patiently in line with 700 or so ISV developers and Academics waiting to be security searched (Bill Gates, Gordon Brown and members of the Treasury in the same building = heightened security) when who should tap me on the shoulder?

My younger brother no less armed with oodles of camera equipment. It transpired that as a photographer for the Press Association he was one of only two press actually allowed in to cover the parallel Treasury event and given the announcement of Bill’s Honorary Knighthood by the Queen there were journalists outside fighting to get in.

It really is a small world but this tends to happen to me a lot; bumping into random people in the most unexpected of places. So what’s the most bizarre encounter you have had and where?

Wow, that Developing Software for the Future Microsoft platform event sounded like it was interesting! Yes, it is indeed a very small world that we live in! Several years ago, I was on holidays in South Eastern China, and bumped into a childhood friend who just so happened to be staying at the exact same hotel! That's probably the most bizarre one because, China is such a large country and we both ended up in the same hotel! I think he left Australia a week or so before I did, and yeah! Most bizarre. There has been many such occurances, just the above one would probably rate highly as the most unexpected!
