Problems with theSpoke blog!

Hi all,

I have been very inactive lately on my blog here, mainly due to being busy blogging on my own blog at www.dan.net.nz. Now one thing I could do is cross-post between the two blogs? Do you guys think this will be a good idea. I really want to be active here again but blogging in two blogs is kinda hard especially if I try to separate the content type.

Hmmm... any suggestions are welcome.

What to email Bill Gates?

I have been trying for a long time now to think of something worthwhile to email to bill gates inorder for the email to get through to his inbox and me getting a reply. But till now, cant find the ideal thing to say.

Now as many of you know, Bill Gate's has several people handling his email address and only ones that are seen important for him to read reach his inbox. Now with him getting 4 Million emails a day, what are the chances that those who handle his email for him forward an email sent by me?

Anyone tried this before? Has any of you guys out there emailed Bill Gates and got a reply from him??

MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger are joining

So, today I read online about MS and Yahoo connecting their IM's together so that people can chat to others on either Messengers, I think this is a great idea, will have to wait till July 06 for it though...

Things a smartphone cant do, at least mine cant...

So Telecom New Zealand had their 3G network released for a while now and Vodafone New Zealand have recently followed with theirs. Now there are a lot of good things that come with the 3G network, not all necessary features but all are cool!

Now like me you may have thought that a Smartphone does everything one might ever dream of doing (at least IMO it does everything I need) so I confidently went to Vodafone and asked someone if Smartphones are 3G enabled and she said no, then I was like I'm sure they are capable of it so will they be in the future and she denied saying that this wont be the case with the current models.

So, conclusion, there are things a smartphone can't do :( :(

Hello all, I'm back :-) Here's my first post on Version 2, more to come soon...

Nothing to blog about

So it's been a while since I blogged here last, well I really dont know what to blog about these days, plus I have been distracted a bit from blogging at theSpoke since I registered by own domain (see the previous posts). I havent blogged about much there either but the other blog is more tech oriented than this one :-)

I promise to blog more here soon, especailly about theSpoke V2, if you havent checked the 1st preview launch, check back after June 1 (when the second preview launch occurs) There's still more to come!

New blog

Right, so in my previous entry I mentioned that I now have my own domain on http://www.dan.net.nz I have now setup a new blog on it using dasblog, it's fairly easy to set up. Feel free to drop by there, I will try however, to keep that blog more technically oriented than my spoke blog.

My domain name

I registered a domain name for myself today. I was quite surprised it was an unregistered name. But it's quite cool to have it. http://www.dan.net.nz I like it a lot coz it matches my theSpoke username DanDotNet and country NZ :-)

I currently have the domain name pointing to my spoke address, but I will soon host a separate blog on it which I will try and keep more technical, as this blog is a mixture of everything but mostly general.

A question a lecturer gave in a test

Maybe some of you heard about this before, I cant remember where I heard about it but anyway.

A lecturer gave his students a question in the exam and while many people gave many long answers. Only one person got full marks for his answer.

Here's what the question was: Why?

can anyone guess what the answer the student got fullmarks for was?

Edit anyone wanna have a guess before I post the answer?

Master Pages

I have been playing around with ASP.NET 2 using Visual Web developer 2005 beta, VWD is really awesome. I find making websites on it quite easy, especially when putting in consideration that I am not an ASP.NET expert yet :-)

I tried out the new feature of Master Pages in ASP.NET 2, it was a little confusing at start but I think I got the hang of it now. That's a wonderful feature, saves a lot of effort with the design process, if you haven't played around with Master Pages, I recommend you do.

How often do you dream?

I dont dream very often, but yesterday was different, I had that dream and I wish it was a good one... but it was scary! Not in an ugly way though.

I dreamt that I was at someplace when a person tells me come and have a look at this, I go there (out of the house) and he points out at the sky where there are 2 full moons showing in the sky, then we are like - woow - thats a nice view, and guess what happens next one of those moons starts moving then spining when it then appeared like it is another earth. It then starts decending like a commet and goes towards the actual earth and BANG, it hits some where far away from us and we hear some explosion noises ...etc. And as you can probably predict, I woke up at that point, missing the rest of the action...

MSDN Blogs

So, I visit the MSDN Blogs page today: http://blogs.msdn.com and I notice there is a register sign - which wasnt there last time I viewed the site, this gets me excited thinking that registrations are now open for anyone to have a blog on msdn.com so I do register and then try to access a url with the reg name at the end of it and hmm... nothing happens!!! I then think ok, maybe the registration is for some other purpose such as forums ...etc, but if so, where are they?

Have I missed something, or is it just friday and I am doing stupid things?
