Thanks to everyone for your comments re: my neighbor.  The whole incident truly shook me up.  My fiction fixes (movies, books, comics, and tv) aside, I'm not exposed to any real violence or malice, so coming face to face with it is unnerving.  There's the fear factor as well, wondering whether these people are capable of some kind of retaliation. 

But my husband is really gutsy about these things.  He was sleeping like a baby last night, whereas I was wide-eyed and having a panic attack up to midnight.  Should have blogged. :)
