Thank you to Amity Tan for informing me last night that NU 107 was re-airing their interview with Niel Gaiman.  I was able to catch most of the show. He was such a nice guy!  It was pretty amazing. 

He said a couple of things that I found very wise.  Note that I am paraphrasing--

He said that his body of work was not the result of some great insight about what the market wanted.  He wrote what he liked and would have written what he liked, whether or not it became a commercial success. 

He also said that he never wanted to stay in a genre in which he felt safe.  The moment he felt that he did something well, he took it as a sign that he should move to something risky. 

That was a very interesting interview.  I wonder if he'll ever guest on Oprah...
