The week I had been waiting for--this week--has finally arrived! This marks my reentry to normal, at least as normal as things get around here. The first three weeks of April were unusual to say the least. The first week, we were on vacation, which was great. The second week, we were at the funeral home, which was not great at all. The third week, I was at NATCCO, which was ok but which overloaded my schedule much more than I liked.
Starting today, I just have the usual routine of teaching my classes, checking papers, and otherwise attending to day-to-day departmental business. I remember reading once that life is not one long string of emergencies. Rather it is a collection of events that require relatively little strength to survive. Well, the past two weeks have taken more than the usual out of me. Getting back to normal is a relief.
