I have some close relatives who live in North Carolina. During special occasions, I order gifts for them, normally through Amazon.com. Before I do, though, I always search for Filipino food online. I look for restaurants or specialty shops that may just deliver crispy pata, chicharon bulaklak or other Filipino favorites. Unfortunately, I have not had any luck so far.
I was reading in Wired magazine about mega-niches. They are niches in the sense that they represent a tiny fraction of the market but they are mega because they still account for a million or more people. It's enough of a market to actually make good business. I wonder whether the notion of online crispy pata is one such mega-niche.
If anyone out there decides to capitalize on this concept, you have one customer right here.
