OK, here's the blog entry about dinner with Stan. I typed the blog title earlier then had to end before I actually wrote anything out.
Two nights ago, I had dinner with Stan, Michelle Casio, also with Microsoft, and some officials from Mapua, Letran, PUP, and Dr. Caslon Chua from DLSU. More than anything, Microsoft just wanted to touch base with the schools to revive a consultation program with academia that they had established several years back. It died down at some point and now needed to be resurrected.
This was only the second time I've had a chance to chat with Stan since he moved back to the Philippines. I'm really happy he's back because he has a lot of very progressive ideas for collaborations between the universities and Microsoft. I think he's the perfect man for the job partly because of his teaching experience--he knows how the universities work and more or less what will and won't fly. If he's able to implement even a fraction of them, he would have done some very good things.
