The vacation so far has been pretty intense. I mentioned that I had a list of things to do. I'm happy to say that I've finished most of them.
The remaining items have to do with writing out several papers. They say that the creative process begins with a feeding process in which you have to immerse yourself in information. Then, at some point, you reach a saturation point where lightning strikes--inspiration, insight, the eureka experience--and your own unique angle of things is borne. What happens after that is implementation, the actual process of bringing the idea to life.
I am still in the first part of the process. I have my data and all my readings but I need to mediate over them before I can actually begin to write. There's a luxury to the process. It is unrushed, meandering, fickle, precisely because you have to be open to exactly what it is that the data is telling you. For me, this is breathing room and I plan to savor every minute.
