Making an exam

A person of the less-informed variety made a comment that a multiple choice exam is indicative of a lazy professor. It took a lot of self-control hold my tongue. Fortunately, I don't have to hold back on theSpoke.

A multiple choice exam is easy to check, but a good multiple choice exam is very difficult to make. Case in point, I spent half of today making only 12 questions for an exam for my class.

So I beg to disagree with the aforementioned person's assertion. I like multiple choice exams because they are easy to check, but they are very hard to make.

Interestingly, the same issue came up in my class when my students were asking about their first exam.

I agree though, that making multiple choice exams are harder to make, compared to other types.

I think the challenge lies in the aspect of having to think of "really close bogus possible answers" to go with the accurate answer.

Or maybe, it's just me. Haha!

haha... well for me Identification is for students who likes memorizing definitions. I'd go with a well composed multiple choice exams, where they'll have to choose among different possible answers.
