Pathological

Emy Liwag, chair of psychology and yesterday's speaker, was telling us that the duration of feelings has significance. For example, if you are depressed for a day or even a week, that would be considered normal, but if you are depressed for six months, you need to seek professional help.  Feelings normally ebb and flow.  Chronic or pathological feelings, on the other hand, may be indicative of a larger problem.

There's a phrase in Filipino--nagtatanim ng sama ng loob. This essentially means that you hold on to negative feelings.  You allow them to fester so they keep eating away at you. Wounds never heal.  I wonder if these are manifestations of chronic or pathological feelings.

It was a question, She, not a statement. I'm no psychologist. I would not presume to diagnose. I was just wondering.
