New electives

We have some interesting new electives coming up next semester.

Andrei Coronel and Jal de Vera are opening a course on ethical hacking.

Paolo Agloro and John Paul Vergara are offering businss intelligence, which is largely on data mining.

SMART is going to offer an elective on enterprise programming, primarily J2EE.

Any takers?

Hi, She. There are slots, definitely. We're blocking off a few for the grad students. You'll have to check the schedule, though. I'm not sure if the schedules are grad friendly.

hopefully Smart does make a better teaching experience out of J2EE. It's really not your average Java subject I must say.

Everyone is afraid of taking enterprise programming electives now. J2EE or .NET. :D

maybe it is because it is an elective and not an easy A?

Wah!!! I wish I was a student again... :(

Those are really nice electives by the way. The only problem is that they're kinda too CS. Is there any new MIS offerings from DISCS? :)

on the topic of easy or hard courses, a probable issue here is some students expect "vocational" courses. something to the tune of to do this you must do #1, #2, #3 and #4. i don't about the rest of the faculty. but, i feel that courses should teach the theory as well as the practice.

also i don't understand this "fear" of programming prevalent amongst our majors? too traumatized by it?

strangely, after getting "proper" training on J2EE, it's rather quite easy. Well, except for the software though.
