Still a lot to learn

I took a first crack at editing the work of a colleague. I thought I got most of the errors. Another colleague did an edit and found maybe 10 times the number of errors that I found. Clearly, I still have a lot to learn about editing.

Editing is a special talent I think. Just this morning I was wishing I had an editor for my blog posts. Upon re-reading blog entries I seem to always find new errors no matter how careful I am. I think that is because I am too close to my own writing. I think the same problem happens when one tried to read the writing of someone else whose writing or speaking style they know too well. It's probably better not to get too used to the writing of someone you edit. Or so it feels this morning. :)
