"Here, eat this."

Aside from the boilerplate checking of programs and proctoring exams, our TAs receive the occasional plum assignment.

Bong Olpoc needed four TAs to help him with a workshop he was conducting.  Among the materials he needed for the workshop were five empty Pringles canisters.  Now where do you find canisters without the contents?  You don't.  Bong had to buy five brand-new canisters of Pringles, give them to the four TAs and say, "Here, eat this."

Last Saturday, we had four students sitting on our sofas, studiously munching away.  Of course, after the third canister, they were foisting Pringles on everyone who walked through the door.  Even I went home with a short stack.  The whole exercise put Pringles' by-line, "Once you pop, you can't stop" to the ultimate test.

"Here, eat this" Three of the most wonderful words in the language. I don't ever remember getting fed when I was a TA but it was a long time ago and I might have forgotten. Still food seems to be more of an important part of computer science today than it was 35 years ago.

I did a behavioral test in the office before. I just left a can of pringles, and saw how it emptied faster than I can empty my old M16 back in the day. Pringles marketers are such brilliant people

During my stint as a TA, having access to school office printers was a bonus plus additional internet access allowance was a blast too.

My uni implemented a pro-rated quota on internet access so when I was a TA, I got 2 source of internet access quota on campus- oh so sweet!
