Last night, during a gathering of family and friends, I had the opportunity to chat with Reni Roxas, my sister's best friend and my very first publisher.  Reni watched me grow up.  She's read some of my stuff (good and bad, mostly bad) and she was always encouraging. 

During our conversation, she asked how my writing was going.  I was so touched to be asked!  Writing is a hobby--I sometimes refer to it as "my other life."  In the comedy of errors that my life sometimes is, creative writing is part of the supporting cast.  So the acknowledgement, especially from someone in publishing, acknowledges that part of you, the act really lifts your soul a couple of notches.
