I spoke to soon in my earlier post. Two amazing things happened today:
A paper I co-wrote with Ryan Baker of the University of Nottingham and my students Jess, She, Sam Pascua, Alexis Macapanpan, Leima Sevilla, Jerry Santillano, Sinath Tep, Minmin Lagud, and NJ Viehland was accepted for presentation at the Artificial Intelligence in Education 2007 conference! This was quite a coup because the conference only has an acceptance rate of 30%. Thank you to my team for all their hard work. Thank you especially to Ryan for his generosity and his invaluable contributions. We would not have been able to do this without him and without each other!
Second, the University Research Council and the Loyola Schools Grants and Awards Committee approved funding for a grant proposal that Dr. E-yes Gonzalez and I submitted. It essentially extends the work that we did in the AIED paper.
I was so bracing myself for the worst! This was a truly amazing day!
