....will my whining ever be heard?
Wednesday, December 28, 2005 1:08 PM
It has been a lot of months... 2005 will come to an end in a few more days... but one thing haven't changed... "thespoke". Its good if it stayed the same in a positive way, but what's hurting and irritating is that it was downgraded to version 2. Can't imagine how can a version increment be considered a downgrade...but I believe that is what happened. The community that keeps thespoke together was broken, a lot of the blog entries i was keeping track before were gone. Nothing remains the same...but I hope everything will keep on improving. I hope nothing will be like thespoke, a sudden change to a new version, a change that stopped improvements and killed a lot of people who have supported it for so long.
I'm not excited anymore. I'm not looking forward for a better thespoke next year. It just died. It feels like the same thing that happened to Netscape when Microsoft Internet Explorer took over. The newer better msn spaces, blogspot, live journal etc. has killed thespoke. People have moved. What's the use of blogging now?
Will thespoke ever speak again? Will thespoke ever turn the wheel again? I doubt it... it has been three months. I'm dead. I'm moving out.
[editted] its not five months...its just three months
Unsatisfied...

I wish version 2 of thespoke just didn't came about. This version is a disaster... After an exciting launch... every bug that has been brought up hasn't been addressed, not all features in the first version was transferred.. Frequent bloggers just don't blog any more... some people are using other blog sites already.. Where's the community now? Maybe its time for everyone to move on... choose a better blog or continue waiting.. maybe there's still hope.. maybe there's light after a dark problematic version 2.0, after all at least its free...
I want the old thespoke back! I miss the color.. the functionality... and the people whose blogs I track. :((
Am I really for Information Systems or just plain business?
Friday, September 09, 2005 4:22 AM
Businesses today thrive in a very very competitive environment.
Competition is not only present locally but internationally as well.
Can you imagine how someone can manage a big firm without the help of
information systems? How successful can that business be? Ignorance of
IT puts limitations around businesses, it becomes very difficult to
expand quickly, to explore new shores, to lower the price, to know your
customer, and furthermore increase your revenue with the help of IT.
Yes, everyone started without one.. but in the long run.. they just
know that to stay in the game IT is a must.
I am a graduating MIS student. I know the importance of IT in
businesses today. But the question remains... do I want to create
solutions for businesses today? or do I want to use what I know to my
own advantage? It's very difficult to decide because I love I.T. I want
technology but being a programmer, a system analyst, a project manager
or anything of that sort doesn't excite me if I'm going to do it for a
very long time. I love new things but when things becomes a routine
like building a website, an inventory application, analyzing the
strategy of a company etc. etc. etc. it seems like its so normal to
deal with these kinds of problems... there's no excitement, and maybe
there's less money being in industry. Choosing to go into business,
there's higher risk, your business should be successful, you're the
boss, it's your call, the whole company and the profitablity of it lies
on your intelligent mind! whew... but what are the perks, you can
decide, you work for yourself, you earn for yourself, you enjoy the
fruits of your labor! You'll earn all the money for yourself. I can
still use technology, but the difference is that the advantage is all
for me. I have the money, I can do what I love.. maybe I should leave
my dreams to be into the corporate world.... start as an
enterpreneur... and create my own empire!
Have you heard about AJAX?
Thursday, September 01, 2005 3:41 AM
Ajax or Asynchronous JavaScript and XML is a term describing a web development technique for creating interactive web applications using a combination of:
- HTML (or XHTML) and CSS for presenting information
- The Document Object Model manipulated through JavaScript to dynamically display and interact with the information presented
- The XMLHttpRequest object to exchange data asynchronously with the web server. (XML is commonly used, although any text format will work, including preformatted HTML, plain text, and JSON)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX
This is a pretty interesting technique which reduces a lot of wait time
that divides a windows application and a web application. An example of
a website that uses this is gmail, notice that you always have
something on your screen because another layer fetches data for you and
updates the html document on your browser... there's a .Net
implementation of this in here .
The spoke version 2 wish list
Wednesday, August 31, 2005 1:52 PM
My thespoke feature wish list:
1. back in version 1.0, i really appreaciate where my subscribed blogs
are in, people who made recent updates are placed on top making it
easier to be updated with several people who matters, I wish this
feature will be enabled again soon... not on my hub page but on the
same blog page.
2. I wish the name of the blog im reading can be easily seen from the same page of the blog.
3. I wish I can place a comment on the same page where I can see the comments of others.
4. I wish the loading speed of the website will be improved, its much sleeker but a lot slower now....
Avalon is COOL!
Saturday, August 06, 2005 2:46 AM
Just finished downloading a 453++ MB File... WINFX after 3 days of overnight downloading. Special thanks to Freshdownload, a download accelerator as well as download 'resumer' and ISP Bonanza, an ISP that gives out free off peak hours from 12am - 8 am everday for just P30! heheheh Here is a sample of an Avalon application sample compiled from my very own Visual Studio.Net Beta 2 :D Cool Indeed! Some of other samples include animations which make a Window Application more like a Flash application. Very very cool indeed! :D I guess, I'm too excited. What will the improvements be with AERO? hmmm......
