It is actually an email of a former employee of DBSoft:

Hello Friends,

I would like to ask for your prayers specially on Jan 23, 2007, 8:30am.

I am currently an IT Professional and I will be attending a summary hearing at the Pasig Regional Trial Court that will be presided by Judge ALEX L. QUIROZ for DBOSFT's application for a Temporary Restraining Order upon me to stop from working with CAI-STA(my present employer) while a civil case that they filed is ongoing. Usually, thise case might take several months, 6 months usually.

I am married with a 3 year old child and my husband is an ordinary employee as well. I am also supporting my parents who are both retired so that any decision on Jan 23 would really affect not only me but my family to live.

The civil case DBSoft filed against me was regarding a "breach of contract" when I transferred to CAI-STA last Oct. 2005. I worked in DBSoft for 6 years, 1999-2005, and though I signed for a contract not to be enggaged in their direct competitors within 2 years after my end of employment with them, I am fully aware that CAI-STA is not one of their direct competitors.

But as it is, DBSoft Phils. Inc., is claiming that all IT Companies that are engaged in software development are thier competitors.

Of all the resigned employees, even before me, I am the only one having this case at the moment. I might be being used to threaten other employees of theirs not to resign. I am very clean with clearance when I left DBSoft and so I know that my defense are strong. What really worries me is their request for a TRO for me to stop working while this case is open. I am just an employee trying to earn a living practicing my profession. I can't believe that such a company would want this to happen to me after the 6 years I've been loyal to them.

And worse, if TRO will be granted, not even proven guilty, DBSoft had already won destroying not only my career but my life as well. In connection, this would mean all IT Companies would follow the same style as DBSoft's and all IT Professionals could suffer the same.

I am asking for your prayers that Judge Alex. L. Quiroz would be enlightened by the Holy Spirit and that TRO would not be granted. I do have a lawyer but it would really depends on the judge's decision.

I am also asking for your help to forward this email to as many friends as you have even outside Philippines so that all employees would be aware that such case is possible. If you could paste this letter on blogs or forums I would really appreciate it. Who knows, this email might reach Judge Quiroz before the hearing on Tuesday.

As per my lawyer, it would be much better to let this out in media so that the world would be fully aware of such case.

I promise to keep you updated and thank you in advance for your prayers and help.

If you want to contact me, you could email back or you can call me at 09189199433 or 8017108.

Thank you in advance,

Susana Flores Molina

Speaking of books, when I was still working I bought 8 books: 2 IT-related, 1-Christian related and 5-Business/Finance related books. I'm now currently reading The Cashflow Quadrant by Robert T. Kiyosaki. Actually I want to focus only on 2 subjects: IT and Business.

I have quite a lot of appointments next week, like jobhunt, training opportunity in Informatics, MSDN session in Microsoft Office, my cousin's wedding...

It would have been a perfect exam but the physician noticed my heartbeat pattern. My heart is pumping oddly, missing 4-5 beats per minute. She's worried that I might faint in the job so she required me to see a cardiologist. So I went to a hospital last Sept 15 and had my ECG and I might go to 2 other kinds of heart check-ups.

I think the cause of this skippy heartbeats is stress, so now I'm avoiding it plus some exercise in the morning and not drinking caffeine.

Mt alternative route to learning

Question: What would you do if one day your computer had just screwed down, just when you're about to absorb a whole C# book for 31 days plus you have no Internet access?

Here in my new living location in Cainta, we have telephone line here yet. And our home PC just went screwed and I for now I have no money for another repair.

Answer: Go online learning! (Thank God there's an Internet Cafe nearby.)

I can't stand a day without learning something new and getting my hands dirty in Software Development. Yeah I know I have to sacrifice some money here just to learn. Thank God there's PTR.

OT: Tomorrow I'll be in Blastasia Inc. to apply for Programmer Trainee, thanks to Edmarco for application hints. Haha. It's called Kent Alstad on ATLAS. I don't know so much about ATLAS but I'm looking forward to know and explore about it.

I also discovered a job board site. It's called Top 1000 Jobs http://www.top1000jobs.com/ I think it doesn't work like Jobstreet or Jobsdb. As far as I know, the site will find jobs for you from top 1000 companies in the Philippines once you drop your online resume and all you have to do is wait until you receive (an) invitation(s) from those companies. The site is in beta by the way.

Hi Everyone =)

Hi.
I am currently organizing an Infrastructure talk that will be held in Uni of Makati next week.
Speaking of MS NERDS, Sept 17 will be a NERDS Technical Briefing day. Oh shucks, somebody took ASP.NET 2.0 topic already. Got to formulate an alternative...

I have thrown my own skills ad at the Entreplink Philippines group, hopefully it'll get approved by sir Charles and attract clients. Just for freelance job hehe.

So i tried to remove it, but w/o the use of the installer so some programs remains installed:

MS.NET Framework 2.0 beta
MS Visual J#.NET Redistributable Package 2.0 beta
MS Visual Studio Emulator for Devices - ENU

With these programs installed I cannot install Visual Studio 2005 beta 2 so I tried to reinstall VS 2005 beta and then uninstall it but then again it remains the same. I swoon over to the Change/Remove Programs in the Control Panel but *what i like* about Control Panel is that not all programs installed in Win XP are listed. Those 3 thingies aren't listed in Currently installed programs and updates in Change/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

I wanted to remove those stuffs...

Serious goal-setting

Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

My conscience says:
"Ok. calm down Jen, calm down. He failed every subject in the eighth grade. He flunked physics, Latin, algebra and English in high school. He didn't do much better in sports. Although he did manage to make the school golf team, he promptly lost the only important match of the year. There was a consolation match and he lost that, too.

Throughout his youth, Sparky was awkward socially. He was not actually disliked by the other students; he wasn't considered consequential enough for that! He was astonished if a classmate ever said "hello" to him outside school hours. He never found out how he would have fared as a "date." In high school, Sparky never once asked a girl out. He was too afraid of being rejected.

Sparky was a loser. He, his classmates, and everyone else knew it, so Sparky simply accepted it. But one thing was important to Sparky: drawing. He was proud of his own artwork. Of course, no one else appreciated it. In his senior year in high school, he submitted some cartoons to the editors of his yearbook. They were turned down. Despite this particularly painful rejection, Sparky had found his passion.

Upon graduating from high school, he wrote a letter to Walt Disney Studios. He was told to send some samples of his artwork, and the subject matter for a cartoon was suggested. Sparky drew the proposed cartoon. He spent a great deal of time on it and on the other drawings. Finally the reply from the Disney Studios came. He had been rejected once again. Another loss for the loser.

Sparky wrote his own autobiography in cartoons. He described his childhood self, a little-boy loser and chronic under achiever. He was the little cartoon boy whose kite would never fly, who never succeeded in kicking the football, and who became the most famous cartoon character of all, Charlie Brown!

Sparky, the boy who failed every subject in the eighth grade and whose work was rejected again and again, was Charles Schulz.

Charles Schulz persevered. He succeeded beyond his wildest imagination. He earned and deserved that success. He had failed at everything else he had tried. He endured rejection. It took a lot of trial and error to finally find out what it was that he was supposed to do. But he never quit. Because Charles Schulz persevered, the world is richer.

Perseverance is the insurance policy and common denominator for success. So powerful is perseverance that failure cannot exist in its presence. As Edison observed when after thousands of efforts to make the electric light bulb produced no illumination, "I haven't failed. I've identified 10,000 ways this doesn't work" By accurately viewing it as a learning experience, eventually Edison succeeded, leaving the critics and nay-sayers one of mankind¹s most important inventions.

Charles Schulz, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Colonel Sanders, Thomas Edison, Ayn Rand and the endless list of other persistent great achievers found that success inevitably arrives for every person who perseveres. Learn from the people who did it: Let perseverance keep your goals alive. And your dreams real.

Do what you love to do. Stand up for what you believe in. Make it a part of your life. Work toward it every day. Remember with every "No" you are that much closer to a "Yes" And by learning from each defeat and staying the course, success is inevitable.

-- from an article 11 Ways to raise your Perseverance Quotient
