It's been a while since my last post... well it has been quite a busy month for me, so may deadlines to meet, too many commitments to attend to. I just delivered a few enhancement and special requests to the projects I am handling and waiting for some confirmations and responses to the queries about my other projects. Right now I'm busy studying Rational Software's Clearcase (Rational Version of Visual SourceSafe) and Eclipse (an open source IDE for Java and other open source languages)...

A colleague of mine pop me a message asking for an mp3, luckily I have a copy of the song he's looking for the size of the file is around 4-5MB so what I did was email him and attach the file to it. But sad to say the sending of the file took a long time, what I did is find a way to share the file not using email. 5 years ago I was using this free virtual space offered by Xdrive (http://www.xdrive.com), but I think around the year 2002 they stop offering the free service, then there's You send it (http://www.yousendit.com) another cool site, it let you upload files to the web so that you can share it for free, the catch is the file is only stored 7 days after you uploaded it or if it reached a number of allowable download (bandwidth). You Send it, might probably be the solution to my problem but again another problem arose since I'm sending this through my office PC and our Internet Connection here is somewhat constrained (or I don't know what the heck is the problem) that everytime I uploaded through YSI, the page time out. I remember a post from a forum suggesting a virtual drive, 4shared.com "well, what the heck" I said, "why don't I give it a try..." well it paid off pretty well since the site is great, the download and upload is fast, the badwidth is unlimited the minumum offered transfer rate is around 10kbps plus you got 100MB disk storage, and to top it all it's FREE, yes you read it right it's FREE. The only catch (yes there is always and as in "ALWAYS" a catch) that there should be activity in your virtual drive within 30 days prior to the last day of your access. So if you leave it dormant, let's say 31 days your account will be closed. The UI is great plus you can choose a specific folder to share. You can also set your share to be password protected or not, let your user upload, remove or edit stuff you put in your share. Well as my colleague says "Haayyy ang sarap ng buhay".

Another find that I considered great is kaxxy.com, since our internet connection here in the office kinda restricted (I mean I culdn't even browse friendster for God's sake) this site is a great tool. kaxxy.com is a webproxy, what it does is, it act as a proxy so you can visit the site that is blocked by your proxy's blocking software (eg websense), cool eh... (as I always say "There is always a way...")
