I'm Off Down the Pub

I'm off down the pub tonight. Another meeting of the Preston Foster Appreciation society. You can find out about that on my other blog. Take a look at the entry for 30th October 2003 for details of how it all started. Then move on to 2nd Feb 2004 for info on Preston Foster sweatshirts....

We discuss matters of world importance for around 30 seconds and then consider things like "how do you weigh potato crisps in mid air" (apparently they do). The evening just flies by.....

So . . . is it *really* a society that appreciates the actor Preston Foster? Huh, here I thought I was pretty up on my mid-twentieth century film trivia, and I had no idea who this man was. I DID find out that he was a volunteer for the Coast Guard, which is pretty cool (we've got Coast Guard in the family).

Oh, and speaking of pubs - do you ever spend time in London? Can you suggest a nice non-touristy pub?

Sorry. I don't know any pubs in London particularly. I've not been there for a while. There are some great pasta joints around Covent Garden (which you must go to - lots of nice places to buy pressies to take home...) though. As for Preston Foster, we never knew who he was until we Googled him. We don't celebrate him as such, but "Preston Foster Appreciation Society" sounds a lot more impressive than "bunch of drunks" don't you think?
