Another Year Older and Deeper in Debt

Birthday today. Number one son got me Cheers season one. Yay. Number one daughter got me radio controlled indoor aeroplane. Number on wife won't let me fly it indoors. So I won't. At least, not when she's at home.... Number one wife got me Futurama. This is what counts as good haul. And no socks...

Celebrated (?) by heading to Leeds for the "High and Mighty" sale. Anyone who has met me will be aware that I have to buy my clothes from a special shop. I'm not big as such, but I am long. Anyhoo, the one shop within 60 miles of my house which sells clothes in my size was having a "sale" starting today. Ho hum. Sorry guys, but five pounds off a pair of trousers which cost fifty pounds to start with is not my idea of a discount. And they were too short. Came away with nothing. Nothing. What fitted was ugly. What wasn't ugly didn't fit.

I had my style councillor with me to prevent me from buying anything orange or too obviously what they were wearing last year in Iceland. But we agreed that nothing was worth buying. Then aforementioned style councillor, who is blessed with an average sized physique, went into a shop and purchased items at 50 and 60 percent discount. Which fitted perfectly. Wah!

Had a great birthday tea and then watched Thunderbirds the movie. No, not the new one but the original which I last saw around 40 years or so ago. Not quite as good as I remember, but still OK. My favourite bit was when Jeff Tracy said to Lady Penelope "OK Penny, but I'll have to pull a few strings to get that sorted out". We laughed until we cried. Going to see the new film soon, I'll let you know what I think.

Happy Birthday! Sounds like you did make out pretty well. It is amazing how wives tend to be opposed to flying planes inside. I never did understand that. Women can be such grownups.

Happy birthday! Next time, don't let anything stop you from enjoying your birthday. :) It's only once a year!
