Light Switch Puzzle

Back to the Thursday puzzles I think. After all, it is Thursday. Apologies if you've seen this one before. But I quite like it.

Three switches labelled off and on. Three light bulbs, one wired to each switch. But in the room next door. You can set the switches to anything you like. Then you must go into the room next door and say which bulb is connected to which switch. In one. How do you do it?

I'm not going to answer this since I just saw it, but I wanted to let you know this was one of the logic puzzles that was used yesterday at the MBA orientation program I'm going through. Very good problem.

go into the room and turn one of the switches on, wait for a while then turn on the second switch and leave one off. Now go to the second room, the now connected to the switch that was turned on first will be hotter, the one connected to the second switch will not be as hot and the third one will be off.

Yep. So many clever people. You turn one on until you know it is warm and then turn it off. You then turn one of the other ones on so that you can see it. Then you are looking for a lit bulb, an off bulb and a warm bulb. But it might not work with flourescent tubes....
