Just done something *really* scary. I've turned off all the computers in my office. I had to do this, because they are shutting down all power to the building later today.
Tomorrow morning I'll have to go in early and power everything up. The machines that are off include
www.wherewouldyouthink.com and
www.csharpcourse.com which are quite dear to my heart. If they don't come back I will be very upset.
And I hate turning computers off. The computers don't seem to like it too. I remember turning off our departmental computer (yes - we only had the one at the time) for the christmas break. It was not networked and nobody was due in so I figured it was safer to shut it down. When I powered it up again in the bright new year the floating point processor board promptly blew up and we had to wait for the man from Leeds to come down and install a new one.
I think hardware has come a long way since then, so I'm sort of hoping things will be OK. But, if perchance you hear a blood curdling scream at around 08:30 BST tomorrow morning, you will know who it is from. And why.
