Got My Bandwidth Back - and flying with The Aviator
Good News: I've got my bandwidth back at home. Web pages whizz down and the whole feel of the internet is splendidly snappy.
Bad News: Number one son has gone back to his university. We took him today. Filled the car with PC, monitor and just about everything else.
At this moment I reckon that him and some of his Durham mob will be watching a dodgy Sci Fi dvd and eating "Uncle Joe's Mintballs". (I've found a local supplier and gave him a bag as a parting gift).
Went to see "The Aviator" last night. Quite a long film, but very enjoyable. Howard Hughes wasn't a particularly nice person, but boy was he an interesting one. I find it just about impossible to conceive of someone who directed movies with one hand, and designed, built and test flew beautiful aircraft with the other. It just goes to show that truth is often much stranger than fiction. Leonardo de Caprio was a convincing lead, proving that he really can act. And I really liked the huge shiny microphones that all the singers used in the dance hall sequences.
