Journey into Spaces

I was talking to Paul yesterday and he asked me about blogging. He was wondering if it was a good way to keep in contact with project students.

Good question.

The problem is that normally what you blog is put up there for all to see, which a student might not want. The good news is that MSN Spaces lets you restrict access to the blog contents to just a few people on your MSN Messenger list. Paul is trying this right now. Students can post logs of their activity and Paul can read and comment on them whenever he likes. This is a good plan, and like all the best schemes, I'm going to copy it with my project students that fancy the idea.

If you are embarking on a project you might like to try it as well.

True enough, but security through obscurity never works. And I'm happy to trade a tiny amount of ongoing useability for the hassle of having to set up a secure site somewhere.
