Useful Free Software

I've been using the Microsoft Spyware Beta for a while now and I like it a lot. It just sits in the toolbar and stops bad things from happening. Well worth a download in my opinion.

While we are on the subject of good freebies from Microsoft, I also like the MSN toolbar. Apparently this is based on Lookout, a product I mentioned some time back. It builds an index of all your files, emails and contacts and then lets you search them instantly (and I mean instantly). It seems to work very well and is one of those things that becomes part of your life very quickly.

I wonder if we'll ever have to pay for any of this good stuff? But in the meantime, grab them while they are going..

The desktop search in MSN Toolbar is something that I no longer want to do without. I suspect that it will become part of a future OS. THe spyware s/w I don't know. I hope it will stay free though.

Get yourself a firewall, an anti-virus, and firefox, and you'll find "bad things" don't happen then either.
