Things that annoy me

I've got a lovely Smartphone. It does every thing very well. (yesterday I beamed contact details over IR for the first time ever). However, some things it does too well. Sometimes I go to dial a number and the message "SpeedDial was broken and has been repaired" comes up. This throws me every time. Why was it broken? If you've managed to mend it, why bother telling me? Is something in my machine breaking SpeedDial so that it has to be mended?

All these questions run through my brain each time I have to press OK to clear the message. I'd love to have been at the meeting where they decided on this feature:

Programmer 1: "And then, after it has mended itself invisibly, it tells the user what has happened"
Programmer 2: "Bravo"

Very confusing. Of course there is probably a very good reason why it does this which is lost on me. But I'm darned if I know what it is.

It's probably left over from the development stage and they forgot to remove it... Not that I'd ever accidentally do anything like that!

Hmm. I'll check back to see who won the coin thing. But I don't think it was you. (actually I feel quite guilty about the puzzle thing because I think there are a couple of certificates I never got around to sending). When I think of another good puzzle though, it will be back. As for Auntie Mavis, I think she might be on the right track with this one.

I've got many quibles with my smartphone, being the same model as yours Rob. For one i can never record video onto my mini-sd card. Records for a couple of seconds then it says "Out of memory". It does this sometimes even with the stoage set to internal. Like tonight for example, was at a Biffy Clyro gig in Norwich and it just refused to record anything. Just like Microsoft eh, doesn't work when you really need it to.
