We got the pinball machine back again tonight. After replacing the connector it turns out that the fuse had failed as well. Just as we were poised to take the board off the back panel and look for broken PCB tracks I had the idea of metering all the fuses in place (there are about 20 fuses). I found one which looked fine, but was broken.

On my first go on the newly cleaned machine with new rubbers and about five replacement bulbs I managed to get within two panels of completing the door into the zone. Not too shabby.
