Milton Keynes Again

Yesterday we drove down to Milton Keynes for another session of science fiction fanishness. Met up with (and got a picture signed by) Katee Sackhoff who plays Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica. Took the long lens and the big camera, so I could take pictures like this:

There was also dalek wandering around:

He seemed friendly enough, although small talk doesn't seen to be a dalek forte. And I hope the sign in the back is not an omen.

A good day was had by all. Even after getting up at five am for the drive down....

Nice pictures. I can imagine that getting close enough to take a shot like the first would be difficult without a long lens.

Very neat. Must say she doesn't look enthused, though.

What is a Dalek? Is it the way they call Robots in England...If it is, dont u reckon the word sounds quite ruthless for a program which is a mind blowing effort by some geniuses. Anyway.. new word in my dictonary.

Daleks are from Dr. Who. I used to be quite scared of them, but now find the idea of going up to one, pushing it over, then running away giggling mildly amusing...!

Surely everyone knows what a Dalek is! They were invented in the 1960s by a SF writer called Terry Nation for a BBC TV show called Dr. Who. The legend is that he was searching for a name for these robot baddies and saw a volume of his encyclopaedia which went from DA to LEK. And the legend was born.....

Yes, i do agree my english is not that good. But in the first place it didnt sounded me that good as well as i never heard this word before so was wondering if this is chiefly british way of saying. Anyway i would research more abt them.

My bad. As you get older you start to think that everyone knows everything that you do and thinks it is just as important as you do. (or is that just me). I'm sure there are shed loads of good stuff out there I've no idea about. And it is not reasonable for me to assume that everyone knows what a Dalek is.

And I'd imagine anyone seeing one now would take it at face value. Perhaps a domestic cleaning robot, armed with whisk and plunger?
