Back in Hull

Back from Reading. Whizzed down to give a talk and now I'm back in Hull. Reading is a nice place (and on Tuesday I saw a lot of it thanks to faulty directions) but I reckon Hull has the edge. And I know where everything is in Hull without having to go and look for it using a dodgy map.

Registrations for my Student Conference in July are coming along nicely. Yesterday I was presenting in the Chicago suite at Microsoft Thames Valley Park, where the talks are going to take place. It is a good sized room, so we can fit in a few more if you want to come along in July. It is all free, and if you want to get started in a mobile development I can't think of a better way of doing it. Find our more and register for free at www.slide5.com. There is also some stuff for seasoned developers too, and you can even present if you like.

The presenter set up in Chicago at Microsoft is really sweet. They even have a big screen in front of the presenter so that you can check what the audience can see on the screen without having to look away from them. Very nice.

One of people giving a talk before mine, about the impact of technology on teaching, made some very interesting points. He said that we have now reached the point where the number of people on the internet in the so called "undeveloped world" is greater than that in the "developed world". The total number of "connected" people now exceeds a billion. And more and more people are coming online all the time. I'm not sure of the implications for the future, but we do live in interesting times....
