Beating Rob's Code

We had some serious fun today. Andy and the MSP posse at Hull organised a programming event around a gaming framework that lets you pit game algorithms against each other. Thanks to a cunningly set up web server we could write our gaming routines in VS 2005 Express and then upload the dll files to the server which then displayed a league table of results.

We had some fun, and I took some pictures:

These are the competitors, all revved up and ready to go.

loot

These are the prizes, note the tasteful bag. We had Office 2003, XBOX games, cinema vouchers, T shirts, you name it. And yes, the marker pen is a prize too - as used by me in a lecture......

robscore

This is my code, riding high in the league table - but not for long....

robspasting

Only one person managed to beat my code. This is a picture of it happening....

winners

A tense moment as the final winner emerges from the battle.

The winners with their prizes. It was a great afternoon. We are so going to do it again next year.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun! Is the gaming framework freely available? I would be cool to do the same at my uni.
