How to get a free XBOX 360

If you want a free XBOX 360, it seems that all you have to do is stand around on Hull University campus for a while. At some point a DHL man will probably come and give you one in a nice box. All you have to do is sign something meaningless on his pad and take it away.

At least that is what seems to have happened to mine. The delivery and repair went smoothly. I got an email saying the mended machine was being despatched. Followed by nothing. So I contact DHL who tell me that the device was delivered on Wednesday, to a place and a person who don't actually seem to exist.

I guess you could colour me unhappy at the moment. I just can't see how you get to the thought process which goes "Well, you aren't the right person, and this isn't the right place, but I'll hand the package over anyway because I'm in a hurry".  I think it might be a while before I'm back on the road again....

Alot of delivery companies seem to do this, although not on the same (cost wise) scale, last week my new £50 Logitech G5 gaming mouse...was signed for by someone 10 doors down the street.

Surely its DHL's liability, so they should fork out for it if they cannot recover it.

Not quite as expensive but Parcel Force did exactly the same to me when I ordered my Gamecube, it magically disappeared. I couldn't get them to admit any fault and in the end I went to sender (Woolies). They sent me another Cube and contacted Parcelforce who launched an investigation, I never did hear anything else from them.

Could they by any chance have taken it to the Venn Building? I can imagine a lazy delivery guy just heading into the first building he saw. Maybe the the security people there have it in their office?
