So I got hold of the latest version of Vista and decided to upgrade my Media Centre PC with it.I must admit it has been quite a rewarding experience. It is much easier to install than the previous version , and the media centre experience is much better integrated. The Vista touches are very impressive, the last version I played with looked very like Windows XP as soon as you dropped too far off the Vista menus, this one looks much more like the real deal. It found nearly all of the bits in my system and configured them quite happily. Within an hour or so we were watching digital TV and it all seemed to work OK. The only brick wall that I hit was that I couldn't persuade the beta nVidia drivers to talk SVHS video to my telly, but apart from that it worked as well, if not better than the XP version. (I've since found that if you stick with the drivers as shipped with Vista - instead of trying to be clever with the latest ones - it works fine at 640x480).
