Browser statistics - what browers are people using now?
I haven't seen a graph of browser usage stats so I decided to compile my own using the data from TheCounter.com although I had to estimate three of the months as data was missing. So anyways here we are.

Conclusion: As you can see IE was obviously going to win the browser war by the late 90s and when IE5 came out in early 1999, users quickly adopted it because IE4 usage dropped quickly as IE5 picked-up speed. Then the same trend happened again in mid 2001 when IE6 came out and half of the users have adopted it but I find it surprising nearly half (almost 40% of all users) still use IE5, even on a dialup, IE6's download is digestable (overnight). Netscape is nowhere to be seen and even though I still test my HTML to make sure it's readable & usable in Netscape 4, I don't make an effort anymore, to make sure it's perfect.
PS: Netscape 2/3/5/6/etc,Opera,Mozilla,Firebird,etc rank so low (1% or less, and Netscape 3 peaked them at 4% in early 1999) that they weren't worth graphing and muddled up the image, so I'm only showing you browsers that had a countable amount of users. The number of hits per month was around 717mil hits.
