Java, the first progamming language with a PR budget

This rant and rave is from Feb 5th but it's interesting to see people group together and babble why Java sucks. I don't have any problem with Java myself as it laid the groundwork for MS to create C#. Hell, some of the Java developers made C#!

Whoa, harsh! I always thought Java was the programmers second coming, but I was probably reading stuff from their PR agency.

Actually I would agree that Java was/is the programmer's second coming. But at the same time it was loaded with PR. I mean remember all those commercials in the late 90s about Java this and Java that? Then worse yet, you had all these companies porting their software to pure Java (Novel, Wordperfect). Some of these solutions were nice, but most of them were slow, clunky and used more ram than you want them too. Microsoft would like to call .Net the 3rd coming and I would almost agree with them, I'd be more tune to called it "the second coming, 2nd edition: programming done right".
