Cell Phone 2-Way is the worst invention ever
Cell Phone 2-Way is the worst invention ever
For those that didn't know, I wanted to give you the truth about cell phone 2-way technology (aka walkie talkie on your cell phone). Our company has been using Nextel phones and have even upgraded phones during that year and it still sucks. Here's why:
- 2 way audio quality is 1/4 the quality of telephones, so it's around 8bit 6khz quality which is BARELY UNDERSTANDABLE unlike the marketing spin in the TV commercials
- Is marketed in a way to encourage using the intercom speaker, as if everybody around you really wants to hear your conversation. This is rude and annoying. As far as 2way goes, I fully support http://www.PhoneBashing.com/
- Does not support the civil communication style that people should be using. People in general don't seem to understand a phone exists to serve you, you don't serve the phone. Obvious examples are Paris Hilton answering her cell phone during sex (for those who have seen the tape), people getting out of the shower to answer their phone, etc. What makes 2way a worse offender is that it the phone doesn't even ring, somebody can buzz you and begin just talking. You could be in the bathroom, in a meeting, walking in a store and this overbearing speaker on your phone is talking and very inaudible. There is no classic request for conversation via ring or any form of voice mail when you're not available or too busy to talk.
2 way is a step backwards for communication and I really hope it's a fad. Don't expect audio quality to improve because cell phone companies capped it on purpose to save bandwidth on their cell phone towers (which quickly max out) so they can sell more phones without upgrading their infrastructure.
