First impressions of Media Player 10 aka the iTunes killer
First impressions of Media Player 10 aka the iTunes killer
Well I downloaded WMP10 which has the new built in music store features. I'm not going to repeat the marketing info but in 1 sentence it supports multiple stores (Napster, MSN Music, WalMart, CinemaNow,MusicNow, MusicMatch) and you can bet we'll see more in the near future (ex: RealPlayer's music store... bleh!)
So far I love it, in my previous post I was expecting a sub par interface but basically it's an exact deplicate of iTunes. Sucks for Apple but it's a smart move (there are no laws against copying interfaces). Apple did create a great simply interface for music browsing and obviously the right people at MS knew this and decided instead of trying to invent the wheel, they copied it. I know the Apple zealots are gonna throw a fit but that's life.
I picked WalMart's music store at first as they don't require any type of registration, tunes are a very affordable $.88 each, and albums are really cheap too. Unfortunetly as expected, WalMart only sells "clean" music (politically correct censorship bastards) so if I ever need to buy a song that's "adult" I will simply buy it from a different store. Fortunetly your music library doesn't care where it bought the song from, they're all treated equal.
Anyways, go download WMP10 for yourself and experience the first new free feature to Windows since... well.... never.
